Dear
Pixel Mint Friends,
It is with great pride that we impart to you that The Pixel Mint (under
the new ownership) is celebrating our One-Year Anniversary. Dustin and
I want to thank you all for your support. It is only with your continued
patronage and positive word of mouth that we have been able to, not just
survive, but also grow.
Last April, I purchased The Pixel Mint from Brian. We already had a solid
reputation for high quality drum scans, and I saw an opportunity to expand
our printing capabilities. It was a chance for me to bring my 20 years
of printing experience into the market.
Very quickly, we upgraded both our large and small format printers to
industry standard Epson Ultrachrome K3 versions; the 44” 9880 and
the 17” 3800. These are amazing machines that have improved our
color and black & white output.
The Pixel Mint has expanded paper offerings to include more fine art papers
including: Moab Entrada and Colorado, Somerset Velvet, and Hahnemühle
photo rag. We have done jobs on backlight film, adhesive vinyl, and even
a satin cloth-based product. Of course, the bulk of our printing is still
done using Epson’s effective and reliable standards: luster, gloss,
enhanced matte, semi-gloss, etc.
Mounting and laminating seems to have become de rigueur. There are a variety
of ready to hang, display options available, which add protection from
the elements, handling, and UV light. We have maintained our excellent
relationship with one of Chicagoland’s best mount/lam shops, and
are happy to take care of mounting and lamination of prints that we make
here at a very competitive price.
Well, there is a small snapshot of the last year. I have left out the
first time owner growing pains as many of you have already been through
them, and I do not want to blow the surprise for everyone else.
What has not changed is our commitment to giving everyone of our clients
the best possible service that we can provide at competitive prices. What
will not change is our accessibility. If you have a question, concern,
problem, project, or whatever, you know that you can call and talk to
us. Not a machine, not a counter person, but Mat and Dustin.
The Pixel Mint. Still here after all these years, and looking forward
to thanking all of you again next April.
Sincerely,
mat

Check
out the new retouching section of our web
site!
We
have added some samples of various retouching performed by The Pixel Mint.
It should help exemplify some of the terms we use when discussing retouching.
Plus, it is fun to roll over the images and see the before and after.
And yes, that is Mat with the beard. |
