An excellent film scan relies on two key components: a superb piece of scanning equipment and an experienced operator. At The Pixel Mint, we have both.
All of our drum scans are made on the Heidelberg Tango drum scanner, the industry standard. Your film is wet mounted to the drum using Kami fluid which helps to increase sharpness while decreasing scratches and imperfections. The film is then scanned at up to 11,000 ppi optical resolution.
Very impressive in the hands of someone that knows how to use this technological treat. Luckily for you, that person works here at The Pixel Mint. Our experienced technician has scanned tons of film from 35mm negative to 8x10 transparency. Each piece of film is scanned on it's own merits for shadow and highlight detail, sharpness and contrast.
After we capture the file, your image is cleaned up and color corrected to
match the original as closely as possible. The cleaned and corrected files are
then saved as RGB Tiffs and
burned
to a disc at no charge.
And all of this within 24 hours (our normal turnaround time for drum scans).
